The first disease: Lack of clarity of the Islamic identity
That is the first disease with which our Ummah is afflicted. Authentic Islamic rule requires that if you aid Allaah, He will aid you. To avoid Allaah The Almighty is to apply His laws and gather under one Islamic flag, which is neither racial, tribal, nor nationalistic.
However, non-adherence to the methodology of Allaah, the Almighty, and acceptance of solutions from the East and the West, while abandoning the Book of Allaah, the Almighty, and the Sunnah of His Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, represent the origin of the disease. The Muslims did not change the reality of the Tatars except when somebody appeared, raising the beautiful call: “O my Islam!” Allaah The Almighty Guided Qutuz, May Allaah have mercy upon him, to this word, thereby summing up all his life, and directing the attention of his pious soldiers and those who followed them with good conduct to the only flag which has always granted the Ummah victory whenever it stood beneath it.
No matter how hard any leader attempts to motivate his people by anything other than Islam, he shall never succeed. Allaah, the Almighty, will never support us unless we are connected with Him outwardly and inwardly, to be Muslims in our appearance, and from the inside, to be Muslims in our policy, economy, mass media, judiciary and army, clearly and evidently, without concealment, prevarication, fear or terror. There is nothing to feel shy of; on the contrary, the one who disassociates himself from religion is the one who should feel shy.
Exalted be Allaah! Reflect on our reality! Anyone who talks about religion should be extremely cautious, since every word he says is counted upon him. For this reason, he has to choose his words carefully and accurately, so that they would have no other connotations. On the other hand, those who talk about debauchery and licentiousness could speak as they like, with no restrictions. Consider the video clips, the lewd programs and the immoral ads. Then, how could a nation that has lost its identity to this great extent be supported? How could a nation in which the scholar feels shy to tell the word of truth, whereas the dissolute person does not feel shy of disclosing publicly his wickedness and lewdness be supported?
There should be a reflective pause, O Muslims! The loss of Islamic identity is the main disease which enabled our enemies to establish themselves well in our territories.
The second disease: disunity of Muslims
Just as conflicts were flaring up between all Islamic regions during the days of the Tatars, and just as Jalaal Ad-Deen was causing mischief in the Muslim territories, where the Tatarian armies were only a few steps away; now, the dispute and schism are creeping into almost all the Muslim territories, to the extent that you seldom find two Islamic neighboring countries without being in conflict over borders, or dispute over a particular case. The Muslims have been preoccupied with their own affairs, and have left the armies of occupation reveling across the different parts of the Islamic world, and have made their main concern to pelt one another with words, sermons and sometimes even with stones and weapons. There is no doubt that dispute is a main cause of failure, as confirmed by Allaah, the Almighty, in His Saying (what means): {and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart.} [Quran 8:46]
The third disease: affluence and reliance on this World
The World was very significant in the eyes of the Muslims during the days of the Tatars, and is still so these days. Complete generations do not live but for the sake of their own world, no matter how despicable and contemptible it might be. Every individual lived only to collect wealth, improve and beautify his living conditions, enjoy the various kinds of food, drink, vehicles and residence, and enjoy the different ways of singing and new music. In this way, the Muslims have been indulged in their world.
A lot of youth memorize lewd songs more than the Quran. A lot of youth know in detail the lives of artists, and know, with certainty, the biography of famous players in our countries or others, whereas they know nothing about the history of the Muslim scholars, heroes and leaders, and even about the companions of the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, if not about the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, himself.
Is this not a disease which requires treatment?

In confirmation of that, Allaah, the Almighty, says (what means): {And when We Intend to Destroy a city, We Command its affluent but they defiantly disobey therein; so the word comes into effect upon it, and We Destroy it with [complete] destruction.} [Quran 17:16]
