The Tatars then moved towards the Muslim city of Kingah, whose inhabitants did the same as those of Tabriz, and the Tatars reacted in the same way.

The people of Kingah announced Jihaad, and prepared their forces as much as was available to them, thereupon no Tatarian individual dared to enter their city; on the contrary, they left it for another one.

It was not accidental that the cities which raised the flag of Jihaad and prepared themselves for it were those which the Tatars dared not to invade. That is one of the established Norms of Allaah the Almighty. Had all the Muslim cities done the same, neither the Tatars nor anyone else would have been able to trample, with their filthy feet, the Muslim territories.

The Muslims were able to safeguard those countries for many years, not by virtue of the great number of people, agreements or treaties, in so much as by virtue of their true Jihaad, pure blood and clean and sincere hearts.

By no means could the established Norms of Allaah change! It is not the slaves themselves who break the rules; nor does Allaah the Almighty wrong the people even in the least: but it is the people themselves who are wrongful.
