Portuguese colonization of Malacca:

At that point in time, colonialism started to approach Malaysia and hover over it. The Portuguese colonial forces arrived in Malacca in 915 AH/1509 AD. They sailed from their base in Goa on the western coast of the Indian peninsula, and launched their assault against Malacca. However, their attempt failed. After two years, they attempted to attack Malacca for the second time.

Before the second attack, the Portuguese Commander Albuquerque made a speech to his soldiers. He said, "First, bear in mind the great good deed that we are offering the Lord by expelling Muslims from these lands and chasing this Mohammedan sect and eradicating it completely. If we conquer Malacca, we will be able to drive Muslims out of India. The majority of Muslims and perhaps all of them earn their living from the trade of these lands and they have raised great fortunes and have grown very rich.

Malacca is their stronghold and headquarters and the key to the spice trade. They transport each year tons of spices and medicines to their countries and we can not stop them. If we deprived them of Malacca, they would have only one port or one station in the whole region to continue their trade. I assure you that if we conquered it and expelled Muslims from it, their sovereignty in Cairo would collapse followed by their sovereignty in Makkah for good.”

When Malacca fell into the hands of the Portuguese forces, the church bells rang in Rome to celebrate the great conquest. The Portuguese strove to fight the Muslims in Malacca and plotted to get rid of them in every conceivable way. They murdered and tortured many Muslims in Malacca.
