Despite the expansion of Islam in China and the good relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims there, when the Qing Dynasty ruled for three centuries (1644 - 1911 AD), they persecuted Muslims, confiscated their property, usurped their money, and violated their sanctities and honor. Religious persecution gave rise to many revolutions that broke out everywhere by the Muslims.

The first revolution erupted in 1856 AD after the governors helped Pagan Chinese aggressors to attack the Muslims and plotted to overpower them; in addition to their evil scheming and plots to undermine the Muslim presence in China.

Due to the communist policy, the beliefs of some Chinese Muslims changed under pressure at times, especially young people, or in pursuit of high-ranking posts and positions, or because of the weakness of their faith. However, there were many Muslims who held on to their faith persistently, even if they had to perform acts of worship secretly in order to avoid communist persecution.

The communist authorities adopted an economic system based on usurping people's money and property under the pretext of enforcing the law. They adopted a social policy that aimed at severing the bonds between individuals and families in the Muslim community.
