After the defeat of these successive campaigns, the Spanish invasion began in 973 AH/ 1565 AD. The huge Spanish campaign reached Cebu Island, where they built a fortress to protect the soldiers. Cebu was a base for the Spanish invasion to assault the rest of the islands. The Spaniards were able to seize the kingdom of Rajah Sulayman after a fierce battle in 979 AH/ 1571 AD. The city of Manila was destroyed and the Spaniards rebuilt it on Christian foundations.

Successive Spanish campaigns arrived at the northern and central islands. The islands fell one after the other as the Spaniards used modern weapons, which were not known to the Filipinos. Warfare continued until the very day that witnessed the end of the Spanish rule over the islands of the Philippines in 1898 AD, with the exception of Moro Island. Moro Island refused to be governed by the Spanish Crown, not even for one day. Throughout this long period of time, nearly 333 years, these heroic Muslims fought for their sovereignty, freedom and faith bravely.
