After the Spanish Armada was destroyed in the Gulf of Manila, a secret agreement was made between the United States and Spain. The agreement stipulated the withdrawal of Spain from the islands in exchange for five million dollars to be paid by the United States to Spain. Spain withdrew from the Philippine islands after staging fake battles.

The revolutionary Filipino leader Emilio Aguinaldo returned from exile in Hong Kong and proclaimed the sovereignty and independence of the Philippine Islands from the colonial rule of Spain, which had been recently defeated at the Battle of Manila Bay. The Spanish government later ceded the Philippines to the United States in the 1898 Treaty of Paris that ended the Spanish-American War.

When the people rejected the treaty and rejected the rule of the United States through launching a revolution in 1319 AH/1901 AD, the United States suppressed the revolution and the Philippine Islands were incorporated into the United States.

The wars between the Muslim Moro people and America continued for forty years starting in 1899 AD. These achieved the American goals to impose their full control over the country of Moro, but they were stopped when the country became involved in World War II.
